 You'll need to fulfill specific criteria set by YouTube. As of my last update in January 2022, the key requirements were.

Accumulate 4,000 public watch hours in the past 12 months.

Subscribers:

 Have at least 1,000 subscribers.

Meeting these thresholds is crucial for monetization eligibility.

Enable Monetization in YouTube Studio: Once you meet the requirements, you can apply for the YouTube Partner Program through YouTube Studio. You'll need to link your Google AdSense account to your YouTube channel to receive payments.

Ad Formats and Revenue Streams:

 Upon approval, your videos will be eligible for different ad formats, such as display ads, overlay ads, skippable and non-skippable video ads, etc. Additionally, YouTube offers other revenue streams like channel memberships, merchandise shelf, and Super Chat during live streams.

Create Engaging Content:

 To increase your earnings, focus on creating high-quality, engaging content that attracts and retains viewers. More views and longer watch times generally lead to increased ad revenue.

Community Interaction:

 Building a community and engaging with your audience through comments, live streams, and social media can enhance viewer loyalty and potentially boost monetization opportunities.
